Yeah, yeah, it’s that time of year again. Back to fancy pencil cases, Hello Kitty erasures, rowdy morning subway rides full of adolescents, and the fresh crisp smell of un-highlighted text books—aka, school! And as you prepare to enjoy your last weekend free of the academic calendar, we thought we’d offer up some vintage fashion rules to live by for Fall 2014. For those heading back to campus, work, or just feeling inspired by the back to school season, this one’s for you!
A vintage milkshake maker for your own personal Shake Shack, and other fun finds!
Yeah, we love food and we love fashion, but sometimes under this summer sun you have to take a minute and wash down the browsing and feasting with something cold and delicious. And cold—did we say that?
Test Sometimes the smaller the treasure, the better chance it has of finding a home in our Tetris-like living spaces.
With our country’s birthday coming up and the World Cup tonight, it seems like the right day to celebrate all things American (and Flea).
Nothing like shopping for Father’s Day (and browsing a little for yourself, of course).
Lady Liberty in aviators, mermaids and guitars—yeah, it’s totally starting to feel like summer.
Now that the weather’s hot enough to start breaking out the summer gear we’re dreaming of rooftop parties, bike rides to the beach, and, of course, all the Flea treasures and treats that complement the fun.
Last weekend the sun gave us a sweet preview of all the happy months we have ahead. Now it’s time to get serious about summertime. Hence the age old question that comes with the change of season—what to wear, and where to wear it.
When it’s 80 degrees in mid-May, the words ice cream sandwich sound even sweeter.
These April weekends have been a great kick-off to the outdoor season—and we’re so psyched to have so much fun ahead!
Another great weekend full of vintage, valentine, and vinyl love.
Boyfriend, girlfriend, mom, dad, daughter, son, the babysitter—your brand new little nephew or your office swap. Who doesn’t want a gift made with love from the BK?
Let the indoor games begin! We opened our doors at 80 N. 5th this weekend to start a season full of good eats and great shopping. Whether you’re browsing, looking for a bite, or both, come in and visit! There’s so much to see.
Ponchos, plaid, and lots of sweaters—as the Flea enters its last month of the season in the great outdoors, it’s not just the leaves that are turning. Fleasters are rocking their fall colors too.
Halloween is only a week away! Before you head to the factory costume store, stop by Park Slope, Fort Greene, or Williamsburg this weekend. Our vintage vendors may have just what you need to get your costume sorted—and you can always pick up a few other must-haves along the way.
Record Fair finds, old fashioned haggling, and another great weekend of feasting!
In DC, Philly, and Brooklyn, it was a beautiful weekend for shopping vintage and hanging out with friends.
There’s nothing better than celebrating the change of season out in the fresh air.
The District Flea had a wonderful kickoff Saturday—and meanwhile, in Brooklyn, we celebrated the beautiful weekend, and welcomed the autumn air.
In case you needed a primer on how to rock the funky prints you find yourself loving on the rack.
Some people have back-to-school anxiety dreams, some people dream of dance parties full of vintage sweaters.
From Philly to Billyburg it was another smoking hot weekend of awesome treats, treasures—and Fleasters, of course.
Summer vacation was in full effect this weekend—and the heat wave was just another opportunity for Fleasters to show off how chill they are.
Yeah, we know, next weekend is technically the holiday, but you wouldn’t know it wandering around the BK. Perhaps we’re just always celebrating our independence.
Seniors are putting on their caps and gowns. Kids are promising each other to send letters from camp. There is somebody on the roof almost every (dry) night with a guitar. You walked by a kid with a water gun and almost slowed down because you kind of wanted to get hit. Hot damn, could it be (finally) summer?
There are block parties in your future—and it is way more fun to dance in the street when you are properly attired.
What a weekend! A much needed blast of sunny summer heat, the final days of school counting themselves down—and a Brooklyn Flea Philly kick-off that was as much a collection of good tunes, food, and fashion finds as it was full of artistic and interesting people.
Though there was a brief attempt by the weather to rain on our parade, the combined force of love for both our own mommies and Mother Nature herself managed us another warm and wonderful weekend.
Even though it looked warmer than it actually was this weekend—Flea gear (and goers) were pipin’ hot as usual.
The sun was out this weekend, and all the flowers (and Fleasters) were beginning to bloom.
Sure it wasn’t as warm as we wanted this weekend, but the temperature couldn’t take the spring out of our steps. Plus, there were bear hugs!
It’s not just the merchandise that inspires spring looks and decor—it’s Fleasters themselves. And though counting the pet hairs shed from your cat/dog/ferret may be one indicator of spring, celebrating Brooklyn fashion is way more fun.
Winter Blues be gone! Time to give in to the sunshine and join the party.
Only one more weekend left to explore the fortress of the Winter Flea! Might as well enjoy it through a child’s eyes—because the crowd that sees the most fairytale potential in this place is totally the tot lot.
Time to finally get cracking on that Great American Novel. To inspire, here are some writing prompts courtesy of the Flea.
Ask not what these treasures can do for you, but what you can do with these treasures.
A reminder of just how purdy (and silly and just doggone special) you are.
Celebrating our last weekend outdoors—and some free advice on staying warm thru winter.
Saturday was a lovely autumn day, but it was also the calm before the storm…
Dumpling tactics, complex dog dynamics, s’more art, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
